East Lake Park

Located on the east end of town on Lexington Ave is this 120 acre park. Facilities include a three field softball complex, two shelter houses, a gazebo, picnic tables, restrooms, 2 playground areas, 2 sand volleyball courts, a 6.5 acre pond, 4 lighted tennis courts, outdoor fitness equipment that features 10 different machines, 5 field soccer complex, 9 horseshoe courts, and a driving range.

Central Park

Located in the center of the downtown business district is this two acre park. It has several benches, open areas, and is the site of the Edd King Memorial Fountain.


The Park and Recreation Department has shelters available for rent in the following parks.

East Lake Park Driving Range

This Driving Range is located at the north end of East Lake Park. The range opens for the season in April (pending weather) and closes for the season in November. Range hours are sun up until sundown. A basket of 45-55 balls costs $3.00. Please note that the range will be closed every Wednesday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm to perform facility maintenance.

Mount Pleasant Disc Golf Course

This Disc Golf Course was built recently this year. It features a 18 hole course. When in the park, turn just before the driving range. The first hole starts at the shelter house on the left.

Prairie View Park

This 14.5-acre park is currently under development between Linden Heights and East Lake Park. The landscape of the park will consist of wild flowers and prairie grasses. Phases II and III of the Mount Pleasant Recreational Trail run through this park.

Sheaffer Park

This one and a half acre park is located on South Walnut Street. It contains open space and benches, which is ideal for families wishing to play with their children.

McMillan Park

This 40-acre park is home of The Old Threshers Reunion, Henry County Fair, and many special events each year. Facilities include a shelter house, swing set, restrooms, dirt track, game fields, and several large buildings that are available for rent.

Saunders Park

This 60-acre park is located in the heart of the city next to the hospital. Facilities include the Mount Pleasant Family Aquatic Center, playground equipment, two shelter houses, two gazebos, and a log cabin.

United Thru Play Playground

The United Thru Play Playground is located at the former Saunders School site. The large wooden playground component is a great addition to the Parks and Recreation system!

Cranes Pond

Located on Courtland Street is this five-acre park. Facilities include a shelter house, sledding hill, swings, benches, and a two-acre pond for fishing.

Green Square Park

This small, residential park is located on King Drive. It has a half court basketball facility, playground equipment, and benches.

Recreation Trails

The Mt. Pleasant Recreation Trails offer year-round activity opportunities for people of all ages! Wide, paved trails offer scenic routes for walking, running or biking. Trail events are scheduled throughout the year. Family events such as the Disney Hike below offer children a variety of healthy, fun activities on the trail. A5K Fun Run-Walk offers a fitness challenge for youth and adults.

There are 4.2 miles of paved trail, which starts on Walnut Street, winds around the High School and ends at East Lake Park.

East Lake recreational facilities include playgrounds, tennis courts, driving range, softball diamonds, soccer fields, horseshoe courts, picnic areas, and fishing pond.
